The Allegro Group Public Policy team wins two prestigious awards at the 2016 EU Public Affairs Awards
November 24, 2016
On the 16th of November, the Allegro Group Public Policy Team attended the inaugural EU Public Affairs Awards (EuroPAwards). The EuroPAwards celebrates Brussels Public Policy and it acknowledges the successes of public affairs professionals and consultancies in this sphere. The awards span various sectors and categories (“Outstanding Contribution”, “Promising Newcomer”, “In house team of the year”, “Consultancy of the year”, “Lobbying Member States”, etc) reflecting the diversity of policy work in Brussels and beyond. The EuroPAwards enable public policy professionals to showcase their achievements and recognize their role in shaping policy, while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
The Allegro Group Public Policy team was nominated for the “In house team of the year” and “Lobbying Member States” categories and we were delighted to walk away with both awards. These prizes are a testament to our dedication, hard work, perseverance and passion for what we do. Winning the first category was especially pleasing because it recognizes how well we work together as a team. But more importantly, they reflect the importance of the work we have done to change the way European policy makers think about digital policy and the Internet. Since setting up the first Brussels office of a European Internet company in May 2013, we feel we have succeeded in changing the tone of the debate by beginning the process of shifting the focus away from Silicon Valley towards the European Internet ecosystem. We like to think this has contributed to policy makers perceiving us as a reliable and legitimate partner in the policymaking process, as well as a mobilizer of the European Tech industry. The second category was proof of our successful work outside Brussels, at the national capitals of our core markets. Special credit goes to our Poland-based colleague, Grzegorz Wójcik, whose leadership of eCommerce Polska has been a huge factor in the success of a number of initiatives in that country. Overall, we were very humbled by these awards, and at the same time delighted that our hard work was recognized at this prestigious ceremony. Look ahead to 2017, we look forward to our new challenges with great enthusiasm.Daniela Borlea
